The Vision of Our Refuge is:

It is our desire to promote an atmosphere of freedom in authentic worship to God and transparent relationships with one another. We believe God is calling us to be a community of Believers that know Him, His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. We value “body ministry” and desire to see members thrive in the gifts, talents and dreams that God has given them to produce much fruit in their spheres of influence. We are excited about the plans the Lord has for this church and are honored to share in the ministry of His Kingdom.

Here are some foundational Scriptural truths on which Our Refuge has been built:

–The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16). It is the truth of God (John 17:17), which was not written by the will of men. Holy men were moved by the Holy Spirit, and these men spoke and wrote God’s truths (2 Peter 2:20,21).

–There is one God and Father of all and He is the one out of whom are all things (1 Corinthians 8:6). He dwells in unapproachable light and of whom no one has seen at anytime (1 Timothy 6:16). God the Father is the one who gave His only begotten Son for the salvation of all who believe (John 3:16). His promise to us is that He will be Father to us and that we can be sons and daughters to Him (2 Corinthians 6:18).

–Before Jesus Christ came to earth, He was God and was with God (John 1:2; John 17:5). All things have come into existence through Him (1Corinthians 6:11). Jesus was in the very form of God and empting Himself, He became a man (Philippians 2:6) being born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23). He expressed the will of the Father by performing miracles, living a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21), willingly offering Himself up as a sacrifice for our sins, sickness, and pains (Isaiah 53:4-6). Jesus was raised from the dead, He ascended to Heaven and took His place at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20). At a time ordained by God, the last trumpet will sound and the voice of the archangel will be heard. Jesus will then appear in the clouds and receive those who are His to Himself (1 Thessalonians 4:16). He will physically come to earth a second time to rule and reign forever more.

–The eternal Spirit of God is the One who convicts the world of sin and enables us to be born again. At salvation, the Holy Spirit seals us in Christ (Ephesians 1:13). He is given to us as a pledge of our inheritance (Ephesians 1:14). The Holy Spirit anoints us (1 John 2:27) (1 Corinthians 6:19). He also is the guidance and power that enables us to get victory over the flesh as we walk in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit fills us with His presence (Ephesians 5:18) and baptizes us with power to be witnesses and ministers of His grace (Luke 24:48,49).

–The forgiveness, cleansing (1 John 1:9) and forgetting (Hebrews 10:17) of sin occurs through confession (1 John 1:9) and faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 10:9). It is only through the Name of Jesus that salvation is received by faith (Acts 4:12).

–We believe in believers’ baptism, which is a critical part of our walk with the Lord following salvation (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:36).
